Mirza Jafar Ali oghlu Tabrizi was an Azerbaijani calligrapher and a teacher calligraphy. He was noted for his ability of writing in a number of styles. ==Biography== Tabrizi was a prominent calligrapher in the 15th century. He studied calligraphy, particularly a style known as “nastalig” under another Azerbaijani calligrapher, Mir Abdulla Tabrizi, who earned fame in Khorasan and Turkistan. Tabrizi served in Miran Shah`s palace in Tebriz. Later he was transferred to Herat, along with other masters, painters and calligraphers, to work in a palace of Timur`s other son Shahrukh. There he became a close friend of Baysungur, a son of Shahrukh, who took him under his patronage. Baysungur was known for his esteem to arts and artists. In connection with this, Tabrizi was also given a nickname “Baysunguri”.
